2008 Pastoral Services Appeal (PSA)

Every year, the Diocese of Orange appeals to its members of all 62 parishes, centers, missions and chapels, for financial support of diocesan pastoral ministries & services which serve people throughout Orange County through the Pastoral Services Appeal (PSA). The purpose of this appeal is to support our Diocese’s mission, ministry and services for our wider community, particularly in the major areas of Catholic Formation & Education, Outreach Ministry and Clergy Formation & Support. The PSA also utilizes a parish rebate plan by giving each church a set a goal for the year, then returning all payments it receives in excess of this amount back to the church. This rebate is then used for each individual parishes needs. The goal set for St. Mary’s by the Sea this year is $30,500; much lower than in previous years. We encourage all of our parishioners to consider what their pledge for 2008 will be ‑ ‑ the AMOUNT of the pledge is not as important as your PARTICIPATION.

There are many options for making a pledge this year. Donors can make a one-time donation or spread their pledge out quarterly or over a period of ten months. Payments can be made by cash, check, electronic debit or with a credit card.

            To make a pledge, parishioners may use one of the special Pastoral Services Appeal envelopes located in the pew racks or you can pick one up at the Church office. Your pledge can also be made on online. Just go to www.rcbo.org, click the link on the left-hand side that says, "Online PSA Donations" and follow the prompts. It's that easy! And, St. Mary's by the Sea will receive a $10 bonus for each family that pledges online!

This year, as an added incentive for your participation, all families who pledge (and pay) $200 or more will receive a free copy of the Diocesan 30th anniversary commemorative book, Learning, Loving, Living our Faith (a $25.00 value). It is a beautiful book, and one you and your family will enjoy reading—about the history of early California and the Diocese of Orange. Every parish in the Diocese is featured in a page of the book.
