Pentecost Novena, May 14 through May 22
The Pentecost Novena, May 14 through May 22, is the first novena in the life of the Church. After the Ascension of Our Lord, the Apostles gathered with Mary and others in the upper room to pray. (cf. Acts. 1:14) Nine days later, the Holy Spirit was poured out upon them by Jesus who had promised to give them an Advocate and a Consoler. (cf. Jn. 16:7) The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Holy Trinity and is the love between the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit builds, animates, and sanctifies the Church, gathering and uniting us in Christ. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have endured much suffering, loss, and fear. We have been separated from one another, our families, our parish community, and even from the sacraments. Let us pray for the Holy Spirit to come down to guide, heal, free, and unite us in Christ so we may be His missionary disciples. CLICK HERE for Novena.
